[Ask Laurina] Practical Hobbies by MukatKiKaarn [Ask Laurina] Practical Hobbies by MukatKiKaarn
Considering the cost of living in the 7th, and her income from the library, Laurina's needed to learn to be creative in the kitchen in order to eat well.

Oddly enough, most of her weight comes from all of the shrunken people she's eaten. Tiny people pack a lot of calories. ^^;

You can Ask Laurina and her friends your questions over on their tumblr!

Every page makes me wanna get her out of the 7th and get her some therapy.. She's too neat to be stuck in prisons on building or her mind.

I'm flattered you've taken so strongly to Laurina... and, honestly, there are very, very few people in the world I would wish a life in the 7th on.

It helps that you've hit most of the right buttons. About the only thing that makes one less sympathetic to you is the string of deaths.. Well, most less sympathetic. Even those have an explanation.

There is that, but that's part of the drama of the character... the fact that she has this very dark, very violent side that is as much a part of her as anything else.

Really. Laurina, her nasty habit aside, actually seems like kind of a classy, self sufficient person. Cooking goes well with that. Of course, then there's her OTHER source of food...

She is very much so-- then again, she's grown up in an environment where you have to, or... well, you die, or at least live a very miserable, very hard life. She's a very detail oriented person, very well structure and organized. It's just that, at times, that manifests in a very aggressive, violent manner.

Well, mass is not lost when her live prey is shrunken, so she gets a very full meal indeed! ^_^

True, and her body surely can't use all of that energy in one go, so much of it ends up on her hips. And her thighs. And her arms. And her belly... ^^;

I actually have a psuedo-science explanation for what happens when Laurina's prey are shrunk, but don't want to say too much now, as it may give away a plot point for later. So you'll see in due time.

I think that's a little too gruesome for her, to be honest. She'd rather not seeing her prey dying. ^^;

I see. yet she still kills prey inside her stomach XD misty has that too only it's more extreme (as in she just can't bring herself to kill people even period. she lets the people she eats out eventually)

It just goes into how Laurina feels guilty about what she does, but feels compelled to attack people who cross her. She doesn't like the sight of the prey dying, so she desperately tries not to think about the prey's experience after eating them. Hence, why I can't see her cooking live prey before eating them...

She's not a bad person; she's just mentally unwell, with all the problems that brings with it.

As noted, it was as much a matter of practicality as it was a choice of hers. It's simply easier and often cheaper to cook at home to take any other option, and ensures she gets the most bang for her buck, food-wise.
